When aspirations count

The 35 million Muslims in Uttar Pradesh rarely attract much attention. When they do, the context is invariably that of elections, victimisation at the hands of communal forces or threat posed to internal stability or security. The lack of attention has resulted in perpetuating stereotypes and hindering policies aimed at the incorporation of Muslims into the mainstream of public discourse.
