Hints of a sinister plan
Whatever may be the outcome of the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh, there cannot be any merit in the idea which has been informally floated by the Congress that a period of President’s Rule may be needed in the State. The proposal is ostensibly based on the premise that there is going to be a hung Assembly and that, with no party being in a position to form the Government, President’s Rule is the only option.
