Statutory status will weaken the Model Code

In the wake of a series of blatant violations of the Model Code of Conduct by big guns of the Congress, including Union Minister for Law and Justice Salman Khurshid, Union Minister for Steel Beni Prasad Verma and Robert Vadra, the UPA Government started gathering momentum on the issue of giving statutory shape to executive instructions issued by the Election Commission.
