Landlord ports: The next wave for India?

Will the “landlord port” model be a better option for the Government-owned Major Ports in India? Eddy Bruyninckx, CEO of Belgium’s Antwerp Port Authority, which operates under the active landlord model, believes so. Under this model the port management creates basic infrastructure, like berth and warehouse, and allows private sector to manage the berth and do business with little or no interference from the Government in issues like tariff fixation.
