Soli endorses AAP ki sarkar on Jan Lokpal

In a big boost to the Aam Aadmi Party government's plan to unilaterally table the Delhi Jan Lokpal Bill, former attorney general Soli Sorabjee has termed a rule requiring Centre's prior consent as unconstitutional. The eminent jurist, in a legal opinion furnished to the Delhi government and accessed by TOI, held that there is "no embargo or restriction" on the introduction of any Bill which is not a Money Bill. "The assembly's right to introduce a Bill or a proposal cannot be curtailed or circumvented directly or indirectly by means of any rule," Sorabjee has opined.
