Of tabloids and television

Kapil Sibal, Hamid Ansari and Markandey Katju are either very devious or very innocent. Many ordinary people with no axe to grind will share what comes across as their anguish at media standards. But the handle of a hidden axe might be glimpsed when they insinuate that a measure of control can reform press and television. What that prescription overlooks is that like the polity, civil service or judiciary, the media, too, is India in microcosm.
