Nation must never forget

You can’t have enough of the historic 1971 victory. The picture of Lieutenant General AK Niazi, commander of all military forces in East Pakistan, being hustled into signing the Instrument of Surrender is a national heirloom. Lt Gen Niazi removed his belt, badges of rank and handed over his .38 revolver to his Indian counterpart, Lieutenant General JS Aurora. Tears rolled down Lt Gen Niazi’s cheeks as the greatest indignity and shame of defeat in battle was inflicted on the Pakistani Army.
