Facts dispel dam fears

The Mullaiperiyar dam, constructed during 1887-1895 by Major John Pennycuick, an engineer from East India Company, to save the people living in the south-eastern parts of Tamil Nadu from drought, water scarcity and aridity, is now the focal point of a major controversy causing social unrest and agitation in Kerala and Tamil Nadu.
