More corrupt the state, more numerous the laws

Common sense suggests that legislation and laws are meant to underwrite the stability of order and enforce deterrence of crime. The presumption of course is that the governors of the state will apply the rule of law universally. India’s lawmakers, however, have redefined conventional wisdom.  Relentless legislation of laws—a host of which are observed only in the breach—has converted the statute of guarantees into a code of helplessness. Thanks to the hapless state of governance, compromise now masquerades as promise.
