PM, Sonia must clear stand on encounter

Joining the controversy over the Batla House encounter, the BJP on Thursday accused the Congress of doublespeak and asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress president Sonia Gandhi to clarify their position on the issue. The BJP criticism came after Home Minister P Chidambaram said that the Batla House encounter was genuine, dismissing the contention made by Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh in Azamgarh that it was a fake encounter.
