Reserve price of 2G spectrum

The recent Supreme Court judgment cancelling the 122 licences issued in 2008 has set the ground for the auction of GSM and CDMA 2G spectrum. The billion-dollar question is the reserve, or base, price at which the auction will begin. The value of an auction-based mechanism and the role played therein by the reserve price becomes important in this context.
