A Railway Budget that made honest assessment, warts and all
For the past 3-4 years, Indian Railways have been in a continuous financial downslide. And successive Railways Ministers have chosen to be in denial, sticking to their populist agendas. First time Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi today changed all that. In presenting a budget that came across as an honest and candid admission of Railways’ poor financial health and its lack of performance in the current fiscal, Trivedi held up the much-needed mirror to the country’s transport behemoth.
