The Government faced a major embarrassment in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday as united Opposition stalled two of its major legislations, the Border Security Force (Amendment) Bill and the Whistleblowers’ Protection Bill 2011. The former had to be withdrawn on the ground that deployment of BSF in interior areas is infringement of federalism while the latter for not getting adequate time to move amendments.
