Congress unwilling to ‘spare' Pranab
The Congress on Thursday hinted that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was too “valuable” to be spared for the Presidential job, but the UPA trouble-shooter remained among the front runners given his acceptability among the allies, and SP chief Mulayam Singh’s insistence that the President should be a political person. Even Trinamool supremo Mamata seemed open to back Pranab if the Congress proposed his name.
