The Bengal unit of the BJP has strongly criticised Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s decision to “purchase imams” with public money ahead of next year’s panchayat elections. State BJP president Rahul Sinha on Tuesday said that at a time when the Government was facing acute shortage of funds for developmental activities, it was wasting money for “unplanned expenses” and threatened to move the court if the Government went ahead with its “communally motivated gameplan”.
