Won’t support Congress even to keep BJP at bay: Karat
The CPM said on Tuesday it would not support Congress even to keep BJP out of power and that its objective in the next Lok Sabha polls would be to defeat UPA, in a formulation which suggested that it would support any initiative to form an alternative secular coalition. CPM general secretary Prakash Karat curtly ruled out the possibility of Congress getting Left's support by default in order to keep communal forces at bay. He said the situation after 2014 polls would be vastly different from 2004 when the Left had automatically sided with Congress.
