Former CPM polit bureau member Mohammed Amin has often quoted communist veteran BT Ranadive, popularly known as BTR, as saying, "everything in the world is replaceable except our leadership". The leadership he was referring to was that of CPM general secretary EMS Namboodiripad, who occupied the post from the mid-70s to early 90s.
