Though used as she has been to controversies, President Pratibha Patil has landed in the most embarrassing situation in  her entire tenure over the allegation that she has “cornered” a sprawling 5 acre plot of defence land at Khadki in Pune to construct her post-retirement bungalow. While Rashtrapati Bhavan has confirmed that Patil is going to settle down on a residential premises being built on the old Grant property, two Pune-based retired Army officials have alleged that the  plot of land where the President’s bungalow is being constructed measures a staggering 2,17,800 sq ft (five acres).
