Sharp divisions within the Congress-led UPA government on policy matters saw agriculture minister Sharad Pawar shooting off a critical letter against two of his ministerial colleagues to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Pawar, who put food minister KV Thomas and textile minister Anand Sharma in the anti-farmer column, went to the extent of saying policies of the UPA government were subsidising the rich and the industry.
