GAAR scare: PE funds choose Singapore as Mauritius loses charm
Private equity funds are choosing Singapore's concrete jungle over the palm-fringed shores of Mauritius in reaction to proposed rules which will make the tiny African nation unattractive as a tax haven. So far the traditional platform for private equity funds investing in India, Mauritius is fast losing its attractiveness and the first lot of funds has already begun establishing a base in the Asian city-state which is now being seen as a better alternative.
