In five years since it was born, the world’s premier cricketing league has managed to sell the soul of the game that it sought to transform. It wasn’t cricket that was being played, after all. How about an unholy marriage of Bollywood, dumbing down, voyeurism, and conflicts of interest done in full public view, with dancing girls to match in step! How different is this enterprise of billions of advertising dollars from WWF, the World Wrestling Entertainment?
