The crisis in the Kerala CPM deepened on Sunday after leader of the Opposition, VS Achuthanandan, sought leadership change in the state unit. That the veteran Marxist was determined to force a confrontation was evident when he conveyed to the central leadership his reluctance to lead the LDF in the state assembly. According to a CPM leader, Achuthanandan has shot off a letter to party general secretary Prakash Karat, explaining his complaints against the state unit leadership led by his bete noire Pinarayi Vijayan.
