The arrest of Kadapa MP Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy by the CBI on Sunday evening in an ongoing disproportionate assets case is fraught with major implications for the Congress in its already crumbling southern citadel. In fact, the tough measure may even impact the ruling party in the 2014 general elections. After subjecting him to intensive grilling for three consecutive days, the CBI finally put the cuffs on the YSR Congress president just ahead of the June 12 byelections to 18 assembly seats and one parliamentary constituency in Andhra Pradesh.
