Former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh's assassin, Balwant Singh Rajoana, will be honoured by the Akal Takht — highest temporal seat of Sikhs — on the 28th anniversary of Operation Bluestar.  Rajoana is on death row and currently lodged in Patiala jail. His execution was put on hold after a wave of protests swept Punjab in March. Rajoana's foster sister Kamaldeep Kaur has been invited to accept the honour on his behalf by Akal Takht, which has already bestowed him with the title of a 'living martyr'.
