India & US: Arming a friendship

U.S. Defence secretary Leon Panetta landed in the Capital on Tuesday, a visit which comes as Washington looks to increase its military presence in the Pacific as part of President Barack Obama's 'pivot towards Asia' policy. The U.S. defense secretary called on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh ahead of meeting his counterpart A.K Antony on Wednesday. Panetta and the PM are said to have discussed ways to strengthen military relations besides the current security situation in the region. The US defense secretary is all set to have a detailed discussion with Antony at a delegation-level meeting on Wednesday.
