DMK backs Advani on way to choose CEC

The government is learnt to be moving towards the appointment of seniormost election commissioner V S Sampath as the next Chief Election Commissioner (CEC). But DMK chief M Karunanidhi, whose party is a partner at the Centre, has joined the BJP and Left chorus for a broader collegium to decide on the selection of the CEC, Comptroller and Auditor General and Chief Information Commissioner.
