The Congress gnashed its teeth while a doubly assertive Trinamool Congress (TC) on Tuesday declared itself as a party, which could do without its ally in Bengal. This happened within hours of TC registering a massive victory in four out of Bengal’s six municipal boards’ elections. About six lakh voters had exercised their franchise in the elections held last Sunday. While the Trinamool won Durgapur, Pashkura, Nalhati and Dhupguri, the Congress and the Left Front won Haldia and Cooper’s camp respectively.
