Pranab Mukherjee appears to have entered the last lap on the road to the presidency. Three bits of evidence are being touted by the media in support of this possibility, which is increasingly looking like a probability. One is the pace of file movement in the finance ministry. Another is the lack of pace of file movement in other economic ministries. And third is the PMO’s new efforts to deal directly with officials in the finance ministry.
