Andhra bypolls: 80% turnout gives Congress jitters

Being seen as the “semi-final” before the 2014 general elections in Andhra Pradesh, the bypolls to one Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly seats in the State on Tuesday  witnessed a huge turnout of voters amid stray incidents of violence, stone pelting and group clashes between the workers of ruling Congress and main rival YSR Congress party. More than 70% of the 46 lakh voters cast their votes in 5,413 polling centres across 12 districts.
