Over the past few months, there's been huge interest around who might succeed Pranab Mukherjee as finance minister if he were to become President; and now that he's headed for Rashtrapati Bhavan, that speculation is bound to touch fever pitch. All indications are that the Prime Minister — whose strongest suit is his vast and credible experience as an economic manager — will take charge of the ministry, at least for the time being.
