PA Sangma on Wednesday refurbished his image as the Opposition's candidate for the president's post by resigning from UPA constituent NCP. Sangma resigned from NCP after BJP conveyed to him its decision to back his candidature. This clearly implies a determination on the part of BJP not to cave in to pressure from its allies, JD(U) and Shiv Sena, for a smooth sailing for UPA presidential nominee Pranab Mukherjee.
