Within 24 hours of Pranab Mukherjee's exit from North Block, the cabinet secretary has got into the act to stimulate economic activity, amid the gloom of a slowdown and complaints of policy paralysis. Cabinet secretary Ajit Seth has called a meeting of secretaries of key economic ministries on Thursday to discuss ways to ensure that growth rate picks up at the earliest, including a possible stimulus, said a senior government official, who has been summoned. "We are looking at some of the proposals that the industry has submitted to revive growth," added another official. The meeting comes after Mukherjee's much-hyped moves to prop up the rupee failed to enthuse the market.
