Karnataka chief minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda has angered his community's (Vokkaliga) people after their most powerful seer, Sri Balagangadharanatha Swami, was named by the state Lokayukta in an FIR relating to land grabbing. The seer heads the influential Sri Adichunchanagiri mutt, which runs several educational institutions across the state.
