In '04, Pawar refused to accept Sonia as PM
Nationalist Congress Party chief and agriculture minister Sharad Pawar had refused to join the UPA government if it was led by Sonia in 2004, recalled party spokesperson D P Tripathi. Tripathi told reporters on Saturday that Pawar's stand was in keeping with the party's public stand. "Pawar had said that he was not ready to work under a Prime Minister who with foreign origins," Tripathi said, adding that the NCP chief had made a public statement about his reservations after formation of the UPA government in 2004.
