Akhilesh Yadav lets MLAs buy cars worth Rs 20 lakh with public funds

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday announced an unexpected bonanza for state legislators. He told the UP assembly that legislators (both MLAs and MLCs) were now entitled to dip into funds meant for development (local area development funds or LAD funds) and take up to Rs 20 lakh for buying cars for themselves.
