Soft coup in Islamabad

The joke making the rounds in Pakistan these days has it that the country’s street-smart President Asif Ali Zardari has morphed the office of prime minister into a Neelam Ghar, or auction house. However, bidding in Zardari’s auction house is open only to those who could flaunt impeccable credentials of corruption befitting his own ‘illustrious’ record.
