BJP sweeps UP civic polls, Cong routed

After a dismal show in the assembly elections three months ago, the BJP returned with a bang, sweeping civil polls across the state. The party won nine out of 12 seats, including Lucknow, in the four-phase polls, the results of which were announced on Saturday. The Samajwadi Party and the Bahujan Samaj Party didn't contest these elections but the candidates supported by them won one seat each.
