It is such a joy to see a celebrity championing public causes, rather than promoting junk food, fairness creams or alcohol. After raising the important issue of generic medicines in his television show Satyamev Jayate, actor Aamir Khan deposed before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Commerce on the issue. His deposition made for a powerful case for providing generic drugs and protecting domestic capacity for manufacturing inexpensive medicines.
