Essar Oil’s 3 accounts frozen in Rs. 8000-cr case

The Gujarat government froze three bank accounts of Essar Oil Ltd of the Rs. 1.5-lakh-crore Essar Group on Monday, taking the first step to recover Rs. 8,414-crore sales tax dues. The action comes two weeks after the Gujarat high court rejected a petition by Essar Oil to be allowed to pay Rs.6,169 crore in eight yearly instalments.
