Repeated snubs to minister led to DGCA's removal

The civil aviation minister Ajit Singh has faulted a key cabinet committee and the cabinet secretary for ignoring his request not to grant an extension to Bharat Bhushan, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).  Singh criticised the extension in a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on July 9, saying that he has repeatedly requested the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, (ACC), to send the proposal for extending Bhushan's tenure back to him for approval.
