On the surface, the six-day long standoff between the Congress and its ally, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), turned out to be little more than a storm in a teacup. The Sharad Pawar-led NCP, on Wednesday, decided to back down with the Congress conceding merely a coordination committee at the Centre on the lines of the Left-UPA coordination committee that existed during UPA-1.
