The Kerala government informed the High Court on Wednesday that the right-wing Muslim outfit, Popular Front of India, is “nothing but a resurrection of the banned outfit Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) in another form’’. In an affidavit filed in the High Court, where the PFI has moved a petition against the police delay in considering its plea to hold freedom parades on Independence Day, the government said most former leaders of SIMI are either identified with the PFI or are at present handling various portfolios in the new outfit.
