Panel advises 49 per cent FDI in print media

A government-appointed panel has suggested that FDI limit for the print media be enhanced from the existing 26 per cent to 49 per cent. It also allayed fears of foreign content flooding newspapers. 'Currently, there are several foreign TV channels beaming news and expert comments. Similarly, in a converged world, internet carries news updates from hour to hour. These have wider impact on consumers,' the panel said in its report.
