Pawar absence dampens UPA luncheon meet for V-P support

In a delicate balancing act just ahead of the Vice-Presidential election and the Monsoon session of Parliament, the Congress on Monday was able to ensure the presence of both arch rivals from Uttar Pradesh — Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP supremo Mayawati — at a lunch hosted by UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at Ashoka Hotel.
