Court raps Centre on Bangladeshi influx
In the wake of Assam violence, which brought illegal migration back into focus, a city court on Thursday slammed the Centre for its failure in taking “firm and resolute” action against 3 crore illegal Bangladeshi migrants staying in the country. Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Kamini Lau said, “Bangladeshi influx is one of the major challenges being faced by our country in recent times and is a matter of national concern. This serious issue requires urgent political debate, governmental intervention and concerted action, before it becomes a little too late.”
