PM hauled over the coals

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was in the line of Opposition’s fire on Friday over corruption charges after a damning report by the CAG blew the lid off a major scandal in allotment of coal blocks since 2004. The Government’s auditor estimated that the private companies made a “windfall gain” of over Rs 1.85 lakh crore because of the low prices they paid for the fields.
