The government's plans to amend the Constitution to enable reservations in promotions, for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, in government service is set to run into rough weather. The Samajwadi Party, an outside supporter of the UPA government, has decided to oppose the move, while another outside supporter, the Bahujan Samaj Party, wants the amendment to be passed by Parliament.
