Former Army chief V K Singh accused politicians today of “trying to weaken” the defence forces, even as he sought support for an anti-corruption stir on the lines of the JP Movement. At two events here, which saw slogans hailing him as “Rashtranayak” and “the country’s last hope”, Singh said: “The defence forces are the last of the institutions still commanding respect. But our politicians are trying to weaken this.”
