Coalgate turned into a full-blown war on Monday as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sought to play the aggressor’s role by taking on the BJP and attacking CAG’s findings. The BJP retaliated and went all out against him. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj accused the PM of deliberately delaying the coal block auction policy to ensure that Congress got a “fat sum” (mota maal). Her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley termed Singh’s rejection of the auditor’s report an assault on Constitutional authorities.
