Govt told to do away with levy sugar system
The Commission for Agriculture Costs and Prices (CACP) has strongly advocated that the government should do away with its levy sugar obligation, and, instead, purchase the commodity for PDS operations directly from mills at price. The suggestion was made when it had recommended over 17 per cent increase in the Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP) of sugarcane for the 2012-2013 crop marketing season that starts in October.
